On 28 May, Voronezh State University held a meeting for students “Integrative generation – the future of Russia”. It was organised by the Inclusive Education Centre within the framework of a social charitable event “We are together”, jointly held with the interregional association for the disabled “Apparel” between 25 and 30 May and dedicated to the Year of Volunteers in Russia. The goal of the event was to help people with limited capacities who live in residential homes to lead an active life, make art, do sports, and take part in social life. It was also important to create a positive public opinion about this group of people.
The organisers and participants of the event included 25 socially active people with disabilities (including 10 people on wheelchairs), members of interregional association of the disabled “Apparel”, volunteers, about 200 medically fragile children and 200 people with disabilities living in residential homes.
At the meeting the participants talked about the problems of social integration for the disabled, held a volunteer training session, and told students about possible tourism, sports, and art projects. The students attending the meeting were eager to learn about the problems of the disabled and their integration in society. Among the most actively discussed issues was the problem of inclusive education.
