On 31st October, the Ground breaking ceremony of VSU Swimming Pool was held at Kholzunova Street, 42. Among the chief guests were VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky, Vice Rector for Strategic Administrative Management Yury Bubnov, Member of the Voronezh Regional Duma and Olympic champion Dmitry Sautin, Deputy Chairmen of the Voronezh Regional Duma Vladimir Netyosov, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of the Voronezh Region Vladimir Kadurin, Member of the State Duma Oksana Khoronzhuk, the CEO of OOO "Invest-group" Roman Goncharov, and some of the VSU students.
– VSU Swimming Pool construction is a great event for our students. The Pool is of great social importance. Its construction is supported by Voronezh region governor Aleksey Gordeev. It will be situated in the Dubrava District, where there are practically no sport facilities. I hope that it will be opened by September 2015. In December the construction of a new Residence Hall will be completed. Next year we are going to work on construction of a new Information Technologies Centre. There will be a University Campus in the District that will become the intellectual centre of the whole Central Black Soil Region. Sport and leisure facilities are an essential part of a well-balanced education process, - said Dmitry Endovitsky.
Member of the Voronezh Regional Duma and Olympic champion Dmitry Sautin pointed out that the VSU Swimming Pool will enhance greatly the students' sports life in Voronezh.
The CEO of OOO "Invest-group" Roman Goncharov presented the Swimming Pool Project.
– It is going to be a 25-meter swimming pool with 6 lap lanes, modern clean-up and ozonation systems with a total area of 2.4 thousand square meters. The 2-storey building will also house a gym, a sauna, lockers, and cafeteria. The Pool is designed for 64 visitors.
– The VSU Swimming Pool will be constructed within the Federal Programme "500 Swimming Pools" with the support from Voronezh region governor Aleksey Gordeev and the Member of the Voronezh Regional Duma Galina Karelova. It is aimed at promoting sport and encouraging students to take part in various sporting activities. The ultimate goal is thus to bring up a new generation who will be eager to work for their country's development. We've already seen certain progress and are determined to move further, – said the Deputy Chairmen of the Voronezh Regional Duma Vladimir Netyosov.
The ceremony closed with the placing of a time capsule with a message from the students Union to future generations.
