On 23rd January, an exhibition devoted to Voronezh Liberation Day (25th January 1943) was opened at Voronezh State University Museum of History.
– Being here, at this exhibition, makes us remember the tragic times that our city went through. The exhibits on display enable us to imagine the full picture of what happened. In my opinion, this exhibition will be of particular interest to the younger generation, which is so distant from those historic events, said Yury Bubnov, VSU Vice Rector for Strategic Administrative Management.
The exhibition includes photographs and documents concerning the 212-day heroic battle for Voronezh, and the time of the Great Patriotic War in the Voronezh region as a whole. There are also informational materials and war books from the museum's and VSU library departments' collections, as well as genuine weapon parts and everyday items of those times.
The topic of "Voronezh State University during the war" was also reflected in the exhibition materials: there are recollections of VSU students and lecturers, books on the university history during the Great Patriotic War, photos of VSU buildings at that time (the canteen in the basement of the main building, VSU's laundry room, a half-destroyed house used as accommodation for the lecturers), and articles from the university newspaper.
