Voronezh State University has been paying special attention to the strengthening of international cooperation. It has been signing partnership agreements with leading overseas universities and inviting world famous personalities to give open lectures.
On 17th February, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland to the Russian Federation Owen O’Leary paid a visit to VSU.
He had a meeting with the VSU Rector Professor Dmitri Endovitsky where the Ambassador emphasized the importance of promoting contacts between VSU and Ireland.
'We can help your university to find more international partners. I am ready to assist in negotiations between VSU and Irish universities. I would be happy if Irish partnerships with Voronezh State University developed' said His Excellency.
Dmitri Endovitsky told the guests about VSU’s cooperation experience with European universities, about academic mobility and also thanked the Ambassador for agreeing to organise a VSU-based Russian-Irish IT Forum.
'One of the most important aspects of VSU's activity is integration into the international educational framework. We have had positive experiences from cooperation with European universities when setting up double degree programmes. We would like to offer partnership of this kind to Irish universities. We are also interested in getting our country involved in EU academic programmes' emphasized VSU Rector.
Moreover, Dmitri Endovitsky told the guests about VSU International Education Department experience in teaching Russian as a foreign language and suggested working out an IT platform for learning Russian as a foreign language for Ireland. Mr. O’Leary also confirmed that Ireland is interested in organising VSU-based summer schools for Irish students.
The meeting with the senior management was followed by presentation of innovation projects made by Voronezh State University scientists. Pupils of the experimental technical school Robototechnika Studio also showed their unique products.
Within the visit Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland to the Russian Federation Owen O’Leary gave an open lecture for the university's students named "Irish European experience".
