On 22 May, participants and organisers of the the Tournament of Three Sciences interested in internships in the corporate group EFKO, visited the city of Alekseyevka (Belgorod region) where the company's main facilities are located.
During the tour the students of Voronezh State University could see production facilities and visit a plant manufacturing special fats (OOO EFKO Pischevyiye ingredienty) where they learnt about the main oil modification technologies.
The main part of the visit was to the innovation centre Biruch specialising in instrument engineering and developments in the field of chemistry and technology. Scientists of the radioelectronic laboratories of the innovation centre are developing a submergible georadar for horizontal drilling, differential ion mobility spectrometers with record resolution capability, and a dual tomograph for detecting diamonds in kimberlite ore. Young scientists working in the chemical and technological laboratories do research in the field of oleochemistry – advanced processing of oils that are used in food, beauty and pharmaceutical industries. The technology was developed by scientists of the Faculty of Chemistry of Voronezh State University in collaboration with OAO EFKO.
The participants of the tour had a chance to visit almost every laboratory of the innovation centre and talk to its staff.
At the end of the visit the students got detailed information about the internship and further job opportunities in the company.
