In the modern geopolitical context, collaboration with Asian countries is one of the definite priorities for the international development of Voronezh State University and, more globally, Russia as a whole. VSU has several partnership agreements with Chinese universities that include academic and students exchange programmes.
One of such exchange programmes functions at the Hainan University Sanya College, so VSU students have an opportunity to study in China for a full term and improve their language skills. To take part in the programme the students must show good academic performance and speak Chinese on a beginner's level. All the students taking part in the programme live at the University campus. There is also a Russian teacher at the University, Tatiana Yarovaya from the Department of the Russian language for international students of Voronezh State University at the International Education Institute.
There are 14 Faculties at the Sanya College with over 25 thousand students studying at 56 specialities. From its foundation in 2004, the University has been determined to teach the students of the future, and this is still the University's main objective. The University campus includes modern study and living facilities, arts centre, a large library, two swimming pools, a golf course, stadiums, as well as basketball, football and tennis courts. Chinese students study economics, technical sciences, law, philology, arts, and Russian language. Many students from other Chinese regions also come to study here.
The University is situated on the Hainan island - one of the most popular tourist destinations. Among the island's attractions are not only the sea and the mountains, but also a large number of caves. The weather on the island is sunny, the temperature is usually about 24 degrees Celsius. People often call Hainan "the island of internal Spring", as the water and air are very clear, because there are very few vehicles running on petrol.
Students now can learn a lot of different languages and cultures. The University of Sanya is a wonderful place for young people to show their abilities. Here they can learn Chinese language and, through it, the Chinese culture and the nature of Chinese people. Those who have a chance to see the Chinese culture, will love it forever, and never forget the feelings and emotions they got in China. Chinese language is not only very expressive, it also has a very logical grammar, – says Tatiana Yarovaya.
