Between 2nd and 16th November, the Head of the International Cooperation Administration, Associate Professor of the Department of Regional Studies and International Economies and the International Education Institute Natalia Zhurbina and Associate Professor of the Department of Culture Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology Elena Yakushkina did a research internship in the University of Göttingen (Germany). The internship was organised as a part of the international project "European Identity and Political Challenges" held within The Seventh Framework Programme of the European Union for Research and Technological Development (7FP).

The project research team comprises leading researchers from seven EU countries (France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Belgium, Spain, and Hungary) and seven universities and research centres from various Russian regions (Central, Southern, Siberian, Urals, and Volga).

During the internship our lecturers carried out a sociological survey aimed at studying the phenomenon of European identity in the EU countries and Russian regions: what Europe is for a contemporary European and how the boundaries of the European civilization have moved on the geopolitical map, and what values the Europeans stand for? Additionally, the internship included meetings with the head of the project on the part of the University of Göttingen, Professor of the Faculty of Theological Studies Martin Tamcke and Professor of Faculty of Slavonic Studies Matthias Friese. The meetings were dedicated to the prospects of cooperation between VSU and the University of Göttingen as a part of the project implementation and cooperation between faculties. As a result it was agreed that Professor Tamcke will give a course of lectures in our university at the beginning of the spring term.

VSU lecturers gave a presentation and told students and lecturers of the University of Göttingen about Voronezh State University. They also presented their research results. The visit will be followed by publications in the collection of articles of the University of Göttingen.
