On 21st November, a cooking party was organised in university dormitory № 3 – Buddy club, representatives of the system of curators for VSU foreign students organised a master-class on how to cook traditional Uzbek pilaf.
Over 35 people took part in the event. Girls wearing traditional Uzbek dresses welcomed guests and helped them to get to know each other. The participants were divided into two groups and competed with each other in their skill to cook pilaf. The hosts of the cooking party were Buddy club representatives Vladislav Budanov and Farhad Hasanov.
The competitors did not only have to cook the main dish but also salads choosing the ingredients by their preference. Some of the guests also presented their favourite dishes. Students of the VSU Institute of International Education Han Tao and Shangchuan Jizzi brought three unusual Chinese dishes. They told the visitors about the history of these dishes and showed their traditional packaging. Also, a student of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, Artem Smolianiniv, cooked a pie.
The participants of the event had lots of fun and found it very interesting to learn more about Uzbek culture and cuisine.
