Between 27th and 29th October, staff of the Department of Nuclear Physics of the Faculty of Physics took part in the 16th International Exhibition NDT Russia-2015 dedicated to non-destructive testing and technical diagnostics equipment. The event was held in the exhibition centre Crocus City Expo (Moscow). Among other participants were international and national manufacturers of non-destructive testing of metal products, research institutes, non-destructive testing laboratories, and well-known national suppliers, such as the Kazan GIPROAVIAPROM, UNITEST-Rentgen, Sintez NDT and Hamamatsu Photonics (Sweden), and Dandong Aolong Radiative Instrument Group Co., Ltd (China).
The VSU Department of Nuclear Physics presented at the international exhibition the Moessbauer spectroscopy laboratory. The moessbauer spectroscopy method can be used to study nondestructively phase composition, corrosion composition, iron valent state, and to detect crystalline defects of the studied objects. The method has no alternative in complex diagnostic testing of metal of reactor vessel, nuclear power plant unit equipment and piping, testing of technological and critical parts and units of complex engineering products suffering from wear and corrosion.
