In early December, lecturers of the Department of Criminalistics  of the Faculty of Law of Voronezh State University Vadim Gorsky and Maxim Gorsky visited Vietnam.

The programme for the visit was very event filled. For example, our university representatives visited Law School of Vietnam National University where they negotiated the possibility of future cooperation between the universities. Maxim Gorsky also gave lectures for the university’s lecturers and students called ‘Legal innovations in the area of enforcement of the right to access information in the criminal procedure of Russia’ and ‘Participation of the lawyer in the defence of rights of the complainant in the criminal procedure (legal and criminalistics issues)’.

Then the Voronezh scientists made a speech in front of the administration and the teaching staff of Hanoi University of Prosecution. They gave a talk on peculiarities of the lawyer’s participation in pre-trial proceedings and proceedings before the court, on public prosecution tactics, on peculiarities of settlement of competing interests of law enforcement authorities, on problems of disclosure of information on criminal procedure to the trial participants, and on problems of cooperation between public prosecutor and the criminal procedure complainant.

Additionally, during the visit, our lecturers met the Vietnam Law Society. The parties discussed the issues of creating a free legal assistance service in both countries. The meeting resulted in an agreement to continue cooperation. Moreover, VSU representatives visited Hanoi College of Lawyers and took part in the discussion of issues of criminal procedure reforming. The Vietnamese party showed interest in the experience of the Russian Federation in this area.

Finally, our lecturers visited a legal firm of Hanoi. The Russian party shared information on research and development carried out at the Department of Criminalistics  of Voronezh State University in the area of Criminalistic Advocacy Studies.

The visit was held on a high level. The participants of the meetings expressed their interest in further cooperation in the areas of research, education, and in real-time problems.
