On 28 June, as a part of practical training in the area of Earth’s remote probing a 90-minute webinar by a specialist of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences was organised for students of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism of Voronezh State University.
The talk was given by an employee of the Department of Satellite-based Monitoring Technologies of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yevgenia Yelkina, who talked about professional information service for analysis of satellite observation data used to evaluate and monitor renewable biological resources VEGA-PRO. The service is based on years-long developments of the Department in the area of computer-aided methods and technologies of satellite data collection, processing, and distribution. The speaker also organised a demonstration lesson for students to show possibilities of the service in handling distance probing data.
Before the webinar, during their practical training, the students studied theoretical basis for Earth’s distance probing (EDP), various Earth’s distance probing space vehicles and sensors, and methods of EDP data acquisition and processing used in specialised programmes. Online broadcasting from the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences allowed students to learn about the most important Russian developments in the area of satellite-based monitoring.
