On 7 August, another session of the National Educational Youth Forum “Tavrida” was concluded. The event brought together about 500 young writers, poets, and literature critics from all over Russia. Voronezh Theatre of Equals was among the winners of a grant contest held by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs “Project Conveyor”.
During the 5th session of the forum, 24 projects were selected for the contest. With the assistance of experts the participants prepared, presented, and defended their ideas. Theatre of Equals won a 200 thousand rouble grant.
The money will support a reading performance dedicated to the biographies of seven Voronezh writers: Ivan Bunin, Samuil Marshak, Ivan Nikitin, Alexey Koltsov, Dmitry Venevitinov, Ilia Kessler, and Oleg Lasunsky. The play will also include extracts from the most famous works of each writer.
‘Voronezh is a home city for many writers – Ivan Bunin, Andrey Platonov, Samuil Marshak, and other outstanding people who for various reasons the youth of our region is not very familiar with today. We would like to attract the attention of the younger generation to these writers. We have chosen seven famous writers and are planning to combine seven stage settings in one play. Each writer will be presented by an actor who will speak in the first person. First of all, the grant money will be used to make theatricals, posters, and to record the play that will be offered for free access,’ said the director of Theatre of Equals, Valeria Malamura.
In 2015, actresses of the company, Yulia Pivovarova and Kristina Chikalova, took part in the 6th session of the Tavrida forum “Theatre and Cinema Actors and Directors”. Yulia Pivovarova won a 150 thousand rouble grant.
"Theatre of Equals" is the first such project in our Region. The actors of the theatre are not only able-bodied young people, but disabled guys and girls as well.
