Traditionally, Voronezh offers a diverse leisure sports programme for the winter. One such sport is skating. All in all, 117 skating rinks will be opened in Voronezh this winter. 107 skating rinks will have natural ice and 10 venues will offer synthetic ice.
18 rinks, including 3 covered ice rinks (“Yubileinyi”, “Severnoie siyaniye”, and “Tvoi dom”), will provide skating gear for hire. You can skate for free at Lenin square, at 2 Ulitsa Narimanova, and in the sport complex Olimpic (150 Moskovski prospekt). Other venues will have an entrance fee that will vary between 50 and 250 roubles. Skate hire will be offered for 50–150 roubles.
9 skating rings will be opened in yards and 90 skating rinks will be found near schools. All these venues are free, you just have to bring your own skates with you.
To date, 15 skating rinks are already in operation. Others will function if the weather permits it (when the air temperature is –8–10°C and the snow cover is at least 10 cm).
