VSU's History Museum opens the picture exhibition “Russian Themes”

On 25 April, the History Museum of Voronezh State University opened a painting exhibition “Russian Themes” dedicated to VSU’s centenary. The author of the paintings is the Head of the Department of Painting of Voronezh State Art Institute, Professor Vladimir Shpakovsky. The opening ceremony was attended by the university’s students and staff.

The pictures placed at the entrance to the museum show VSU lecturers and students. The exhibition comprises of 40 paintings of various genres – landscapes, portraits, still life, and narratives.

Vladimir Shpakovsky graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts of Kursk State Pedagogical Institute. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1990, an honoured art worker of the Russian Federation, and a Full Member of the International Teacher’s Training Academy of Science since 2001. He was awarded with certificates of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation in 1995 and 1999.

Works by Vladimir Shpakovsky are regularly exhibited at various exhibitions: regional, republican, national, international. When he speaks about his work he says: “You should work hard, look out for harmony in nature and show this harmony and beauty”, “Artists should always be in good shape like athletes or scientists.”

The exhibition “Russian Themes” will be open till 25 May.
