Between 10 and 21 May, a delegation of Voronezh State University including Associate Professors from the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, Elena Chaika and Marina Stcherbakova, and 8 students of the master’s degree programme “Foreign Language Teaching with the Application of Online Technologies”, visited Freiburg University of Education (Germany). During the visit, the master's degree students completed their externship. The externship was organised by Dr. Thomas Raith, Director of the Institute of English Studies of Freiburg University of Education.
For 10 days, master’s degree students of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology participated in workshops on research methods, together with students from the Freiburg University of Education. They also attended English language classes at various schools in Freiburg and Feldberg and learned teaching techniques. Our students also took part in a discussion about the results of the teaching practices for German students. Dr. Thomas Raith praised the high level of professional training of our students and their motivation. He also expressed hope for further development of partnership between out universities in the area of training teachers of the English language.
For two days our students attended lectures on Slavic literature by Dr. Grzegorz Krajewski at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg - one of the oldest universities in Germany. Dr. Xenia Hübner told the students about the structure and activities of the department of Slavic languages and cultures.
Besides the academic programme, there were also a number of cultural activities, such as trips to Berlin and Strasbourg, a visit to Humboldt University in Berlin and an exhibition “Kluge Frauen”. Our delegation also visited Badenweiler, a health resort where a famous Russian writer A.P. Chekhov spent his last days. There they were given a tour of the Chekhov museum and the city by Heinz Setzer, director of the museum and head of an international literature forum.
The atmosphere was very warm and friendly and all the participants enjoyed their trip. Dr. Thomas Raith and students of Freiburg University of Education in turn visited VSU between 28 May and 6 June.
