Voronezh State University presented the first mass open online course dedicated to the topic “Modern chemical sources of currents”. It was created by the Associate Professor from the Department of Physical Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry, Oleg Kozaderov. The project is curated by the Deputy Head of the Information Technology Administration, Alexandre Tolstobrov, and the leading engineer of the Computing Support Department, Mikhail Ryapolov.
The portal for the course at VSU is in the Moodle system which was also used to develop the VSU educational portal “E-University”. Online courses are in vogue these days. A mass open online course is an electronic resource which is available on the Internet.
VSU has successfully tested software which allows simultaneous multichannel video and audio recording of lecturers and materials presented by them. All university faculties are expected to join the development of the course in the future.
The first course “Modern chemical sources of currents” meets all the criteria for distance learning. The course has an introductory video, a series of lectures, texts, tests, and other study materials. It should be noted that one of the course’s peculiarities is the interactions between the lecturer and the audience. Students can use a special form to ask questions to the lecturer.
“This course is one of the indicators of the university’s efficiency,” said the Head of the university, Dmitry Endovitsky.
