The Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Voronezh Region held a meeting participated in by Alexander Sokolov, Vice Rector for Building Operation and Capital Development at Voronezh State University, and representatives of a special project organisation for the conservation and renovation of a historic water reservoir at the B.M. Kozo-Polyansky Botanical Garden.
Head of the department, Alexey Karyakin, talked about the environmental measures that should be taken in order to renovate the pond. The renovation of the pond is one of the most important parts of the development and landscaping of the university’s botanical garden.
Members of the special project organisation studied the pond and proposed a set of measures should be taken in order to renovate it. At the moment, the pond is in poor condition, its steep shores are covered with trees and bushes, and the bottom is covered with a thick layer of mud, tree trunks, and garbage.
The meeting resolved to evaluate the cost of the renovation and landscaping of the nearby territory in order to decide whether it can be financed by the regional budget.
Voronezh State University and the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Voronezh Region also plan to reconstruct the Botanical Garden and plant new trees there.
