An innovation project “Knyaz-1” by German Komarov, an engineer at the VSU Centre for Collective Use of Scientific Equipment, was tested at the company ALROSA – one of the world leading diamond-mining companies.
The device affects the fuel entering the engine, making it burn more effectively.
The tests were conducted by German Komarov, a young researcher from VSU, and Dmitry Zhukalin, Deputy Head of the VSU Department of Innovations and Enterprise Management, in Mirny, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The car used in the experiments was a BelAZ owned by ALROSA. The tests took two weeks and demonstrated that the suggested device can help to improve a number of parameters. Thus, the fuel consumption reduced by 3%, the exhaust opacity by 27%, and the engine functioned stably.
“We do not just seek for young talented people at the university. We also advise them on how to work in the real economy sector. The fact that such a giant of diamond-mining business was interested in our project speaks for itself. As to the “Knyaz-1” project, we took measures to protect the intellectual property rights, designed and manufactured the device itself, and successfully tested it. There is still a lot to do, but the present results are extremely good and give us hope for future success,” – said Alexey Kharin, Head of the VSU Department of Innovations and Enterprise Management.
