On 9 August, a round table discussion dedicated to International Youth Day took place in the NGO Resource Centre. Students and young activists from Voronezh had a chance to communicate with their colleagues from Baku by video conferencing.
What is on the mind of the young activists from Azerbaijan and Russia? How different are the systems of education in these countries? What are the common issues? How is the self-government of youth developing in both countries? Are there any opportunities to implement projects initiated by young people? What kind of projects are of interest for young people? These as well as other questions were discussed during the event. During the discussion, the participants had a chance not only to share information and discuss pressing issues but also to propose their own projects.
The event was initiated by a political analyst, a lecturer from the Academy of National Administration in the office of the President of Azerbaijan and a graduate of Voronezh State University, Zaur Mammadov. The Director of the Centre of International Cooperation of the Russian Youth Union, Alexey Ezhov, also took part in the discussion.
The organisers from Russia were an Associate Professor from the Department of Sociology and Politology of the Faculty of History of Voronezh State University, Viktoria Chernikova, and the NGO Resource Centre. Among the participants of the conference were students from the Faculty of History, including a member of “Young Guard”, Andrey Solovei, the coordinator of the Voronezh office of the “Academy of Geopolitical Issues”, Daria Rusinova, and the member of the “Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation in the Black Earth Region”, Andrey Shushlebin.
