The Expert analytical centre published the performance ranking and the Inventive Activity Index of Russian universities which included Voronezh State University.
VSU takes 38-42 position in the Inventive Activity Index. It has improved its position compared to the previous year when it was in the 50-54 group.
"Patent activity is a key indicator of the university's performance both in the area of research and commercialisation of the university's innovative developments. We keep an eye on the patent protection of our projects and support the work of our researchers. The protection of intellectual property rights is very important when it comes to dealing with small innovative businesses and our industrial partners. It secures us from irrevocably losing our developments when cooperating with the business community," said the Rector of VSU, Dmitry Endovitsky.
VSU also demonstrated good results in a subject ranking. It takes 32nd position in the area "Chemical Technologies", 28th position in "Mathematics", 26-27th in "Chemistry", and 30-34th position in "Medicine". It should be noted that this year our university has improved its results in the area of "Medicine" for the first time.
The subject performance ranking contributes to assessing the research and innovative activities of Russian universities. It consists of three components: performance in fundamental research, ability to generate innovations, and entrepreneurship abilities. The Inventive Activity Index for Russian universities is the only ranking that helps to assess patent activities at universities.
