The Samsung IT School for schoolchildren of forms 7–10 was opened at the Faculty of Computer Sciences of Voronezh State University. The cooperation agreement between the university and Samsung was signed in June 2019.
The programme of the IT school is dedicated to programming and the development of mobile applications. The schoolchildren will study the basics of Java programming for Android applications, object-oriented programming, Java algorithms and data structures, and the basics of the development of the server-side of mobile applications.
To enter the IT school you have to submit an application. After the registration there is online testing and in the case of good results the applicant is invited for an interview which will take place at the Faculty of Computer Sciences in the first week of September. Schoolchildren who pass the selection will be enrolled on the course. The classes will start from the second week of September.
In the second half of the academic year, the schoolchildren, under the supervision of a lecturer, will develop their own project, a mobile application, and then they will present it to a special examination committee. Samsung and the Faculty of Computer Sciences will grant the graduates of the school with certificates.
“The Samsung IT school is a further education programme in the area of IT and programming. It is open for senior school pupils in more than 20 Russian cities. The course was developed by specialists from Samsung Research Centre with the support of leading lecturers from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The children will learn IT basics and will develop the skills of independent development of Java mobile applications for Android. The classes will be held in classrooms fitted with the latest equipment: tablet computers and laptops”, said the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Eduard Algazinov.
The classes at the school are free of charge and will be held by leading lecturers from the Faculty of Computer Sciences who were certified by Samsung. The applicants to the school have to fill in a form on the website: myitschool.ru/reg.php.
