On 28 October, a presentation of the social and economic potential of the Voronezh Region was held in Moscow at the development platform “Tochka Kipeniya”. The presentation focused on the digital development of the region.
Artem Verkhovtsev, the deputy chairman of the Government of the Voronezh Region, began the presentation with the description of the Voronezh Region as a region of high potential. He focused on the region’s resources for the development of digital economy, and stressed the high level of training of IT specialists in Voronezh universities, as well as a favourable environment for back-offices and operating centres of large companies in the Voronezh Region.
The rector of Voronezh State University, Dmitry Endovitsky, talked about the process of training of specialists for the digital economy. The university’s modern laboratories, centres for research and technological development, the resource centre “Digital Economy”, as well as corporate education programmes and other education projects give VSU’s students a chance to work on real problems and develop their professional skills, and give them a higher chance of employment at large international IT companies.
The presentation also described two large infrastructure projects being implemented in the Voronezh Region. The first project is a Technolpolis, an integrated innovative education and research environment, aimed at creating a system for generation and acceleration of new high-tech companies, advanced technologies and jobs in the sphere of digital economy. The second is a project of an administrative and business quarter “Voronezh City”, the largest business, cultural, and architectural centre in Voronezh, which will crate a modern environment for business, everyday life, and recreational activities.
The audience appeared to be very interested in the presentation. During the open discussion, the participants asked questions about the role of the IT department in the implementation of the national programme “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”. Dmitry Proskurin, head of the Department of Digital Development of the Voronezh Region, talked about the major activities of the department within the framework of the national programme.
As a result of the presentation, two IT companies offered their partnership to Voronezh State University aimed at specialist training. The partnership involves a corporate master’s degree programme and acceleration programmes for the youth.
