A research team headed by Irina Kosinova, the Head of the Department of Ecological Geology at VSU, won a contest jointly held by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research. The grant support was provided to the research project “Transformation regularities of geosphere ecological functions in major metallurgical regions.” The application was jointly prepared by researchers from the Faculty of Geology, the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism, and the Joint Tarkov Laboratory of Deep Structure, Geodynamics, and Seismological Monitoring (VSU and Federal Research Centre of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences).
The contest was aimed at developing international cooperation between researchers from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in the area of fundamental research. “I am sure that despite the challenges of distance work VSU researchers will manage to deliver their research potential, including that within the recently announced contests of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research,” said Oleg Kozaderov, Vice Rector for Research and Innovations at VSU.
