On 3 and 4 October, the championship of the Voronezh Region in snowless disciplines of sleddog racing “The Star of the Central Black Earth Region 2020” took place in the village Yamnoye in the Ramon Region with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation. Over forty teams from the Voronezh Region and seven other regions of Russia participated in the competition.
Among the participants was Dmitry Stegantsov, the leading engineer of the Internet centre of Voronezh State University, who has been doing this sport for 5 years and is a candidate master of sports. He competed in four disciplines: “Bike 1 dog men”, “Scooter 1 dog men”, “Bike 2 dogs”, and “Relay race”.
He won the first prize in the discipline “Scooter 1 dog men” and became the champion of the Voronezh Region. Dmitry took second place in the fastest and the most dynamic discipline “Bike 1 dog men” and first place in the competition between northern sled dogs. He also won in the discipline “Bike 2 dogs”. In addition, Dmitry took part in the relay race which consisted of three stages: canicross (running with a dog), scooter, and a bicycle. Dmitry ran the first stage (canicross). His team won the first prize in this discipline.
Following the results of the competition, Dmitry was able to join the team which will represent the Voronezh region in major national competitions.
