A team of young swimmers from “VSU Swimming School” did well at the national Children's Swimming League “Volga” in Saransk. The representatives of VSU included 11 children between the age of 9 and 15.
Varvara Kozlova came first in the 50-metre breaststroke, second in 100-metre and 200-metre breaststroke, and third in the 50-metre butterfly stroke and 200-metre medleys. Varvara also came second in the breaststroke multidiscipline event. Polina Ternovykh won the silver medal in the 50-metre breaststroke and two bronze medals in 200-metre breaststroke and 200-metre medleys. Kira Yeryemina came first in the 200-metre breaststroke, second in the 100-metre butterfly stroke and 200-metre medleys, and third in 200-metre butterfly stroke, 200-metre freestyle, and in the butterfly multidiscipline event. Yegor Grunskoi came second in the 200-metre medleys.
Many athletes achieved senior category classification standards for the first time: Artyom Gorbunov and Veronika Strukova (the second senior category) and Anna Karyakina, Varvara Kozlova, Danil Kozlov, and Sergey Platonov (the third senior category).
