In early March, a monograph "Invasive Plants in the City of Chengdu” was published. The members of the editorial board for the book included VSU employees. The publication provides information on the biology, ecology, and geography of 155 species of alien plants in the city of Chengdu.
The monograph is the result of many years of fruitful cooperation between the staff of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism and the VSU Botanical Garden with colleagues from the Sichuan Provincial Natural Resources Research Institute, the Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and other research and educational institutions in China.
Since 2018, Professor Anna Grigoryevskaya and Associate Professors Dmitry Vladimirov, Andrey Voronin, and Lilia Lepyoshkina in cooperation with Chinese colleagues have worked on a research project "Alien plants in the urban district of Chengdu: catalogisation, management, and disposal". They have held two joint expeditions in the vicinity of the city of Chengdu, have completed over 300 floristic descriptions, and have created maps of the spatial distribution of alien plants. During seminars organised by the Chinese party in 2018–2020, Voronezh scientists presented approaches and methods for the study of alien species in Russia and shared their experiences in researching the subject in the Central Black Earth Region.
