VSU was included in the 2020 ranking of the Expert analytical centre. The results were published in June 2021.
VSU occupies the following positions in the subject performance ranking:
- Chemical engineering – 32nd position
- Chemistry – joint 32nd position
- Mathematics – joint 31st position
- Medicine – joint 36th position
- Physics – 31st position
- Metallurgy (as part of Materials science) – 35th position.
Physics was included in the ranking for the first time. The experts analysed the growth rate of the university, the scale of research and the demand for research projects, and the quality of scientific publications. While analysing the performance of universities, the experts focused their attention on research activities and employed a subject ranking which allowed them to analyse the situation in more detail. The ranking is only based on parameters that can be calculated and take into account the specific features of developing countries.
VSU occupies joint 34th position in the ranking of Russian universities’ inventive activity (“Inventive Activity Index”). It also occupies the 5th position in the ranking of universities transferring to environmentally safe activities. The Inventive Activity Index of Russian universities evaluates the performance of universities by the number of registered invention patents.
