On 6 July, an exhibition by Alexander Lavrov, a well-known Voronezh artist, a member of the Union of Russian Artists, and Associate member of the Russian Academy of Arts, was held in the Rector's Gallery of VSU. The rector of VSU, Dmitry Endovitsky, opened the ceremony. He then gave the floor to Sergey Gulevsky, honoured worker of culture, Associate member of the Russian Academy of Arts, and the Director of the Voronezh Arts College, Vladimir Bubnov, member of the Board of Trustees of VSU, and Nadezhda Kuscheva, a member of the Union of Russian Artists and Alexander Lavrov’s apprentice.
The first visitors stated that the pictures were very bright, colourful, and joyful, and the joy found a place in their hearts.
Alexander Lavrov graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts of Kursk State Pedagogical Institute in 1977. Since 1980 he has been a teacher at Voronezh Arts College, and since 2004 he has been a teacher at Voronezh State Art Institute. In 2004–2006 he was the chairman of the board of the Voronezh regional office of the all-Russian public organization “Union of Russian Artists”. Since 1978 Lavrov has been taking parts in regional, national, and international exhibitions and received awards from the Union of Russian Artists and a certificate for an exhibition in Paris in 2001.
His pictures are on display at the Kramskoi Voronezh regional art museum, Belgorod State Art Museum, and other Russian and international galleries and private collections.
