The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation supported the project of Voronezh State University in the field of microelectronics and radioelectronics. The full name of the project is as follows: “Development of an engineering centre for the reequipping of engineering training centres of radioelectronic systems with microwave, terahertz, and optical ranges using Russian electronic components”.
VSU will purchase computer and radio measuring equipment. The total sum of the project is 200 million roubles. The project is intended to be carried out over 5 years as part of state support for the creation and development of engineering centres by a 20 million roubles subsidy in 2021. The project implemented by the university is among a set of measures of a state programme titled “Development of the electronic and radioelectronic industry” (in particular, the development of the science and technology foundation for electronics engineering in the organisations subordinate to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education).
“We are planning to offer further education programmes and work placement modules for students as part of this project. We are going to purchase unique equipment that isn't often found in Russia. Students have limited access to this equipment. We will gain an advantage in the training of specialists in the field of measurement of the properties of semiconductor devices of the microwave range. The goal of the project is improving Russian electronic components and, based on them, creating an environment for the development of radioelectronic circuits. With the equipment that we are planning to buy we will be able to open a centre that will determine the parameters for the models of Russian components, which will promote new Russian engineering projects. The programme is also aimed at the creation of modern laboratories promoting the development of the radioelectronic industry,” said Grigory Uskov, Professor at the Department of Electronics of the Faculty of Physics.
