The Faculty of Computer Sciences held the diploma award ceremony for the first graduates of the speciality “Computer Security”. The event was held in the Algazinov lecture room. This educational programme is implemented at the Faculty of Computer Sciences in cooperation with the Military Training Centre of VSU that is why the graduates will serve as officers in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
At the Faculty of Computer Sciences, students studied programming languages, fundamentals of information security, information processing technologies, verification methods, algorithms for encoding and compressing information, methods and standards for assessing the security of computer networks, analysis of software vulnerabilities, secure document management technologies, biometric methods of identification, steganography and digital watermarks, methodology for experimental research and testing, and other areas of modern information technologies, computer sciences, and information security technologies.
The department that provides programmes within the expanded set of academic fields and specialities “Information Security” is the Department of Information Security and Processing Technologies. Students who studied at the department completed practice training at the State Research and Test Institute for Technical Protection of Information of the Federal Service for Technical and Export Control of Russia, at the Government of the Voronezh Region, and at the Research and Production Association Infobezopasnost.
Among the participants of the ceremony were Alexander Krylovetsky, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Alexander Sirota, the Head of the Department of Information Security and Processing Technologies, Colonel Vladimir Ryazanov, the Head of the Department of Special Training at the Military Training Centre, and Elena Mitrofanova, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences.
In his speech, Alexander Krylovetsky praised the high level of education of the graduates of the Faculty of Computer Sciences and the Military Training Centre. He wished the graduates to defend their motherland and solve tasks in a professional way.
Professor Alexander Sirota wished the graduates to serve successfully in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In the nearest future, the graduates will be awarded the first military rank of “lieutenant”.
