On 15 September, an award ceremony for the winners and laureates of the All-Russian competition for the best 2021 student research work was held at the International University of Innovations in Sochi. The President of the National Education Development Fund, Mikhail Berulava, awarded the winners with diplomas.
Olesya Ikonopistseva, a third year student of the Business School of the Faculty of Economics, was among the laureates of the competition.
She received this prestigious award for her work dedicated to “Mathematical methods in economics and management”. The materials for the competition were developed based on the initiative of Olesya’s lecturer Maxim Gladkikh, Head of the VSU Project Office. Sergey Kiselev, head of the VSU students’ research society, helped with the research paper.
“As I’m interested in maths as well as economics, we decided to describe mathematical methods in economics and management. The next stage was the most difficult: we had to collect all the necessary information. I found and read lots of textbooks and chose the required materials, then I worked on the text of the article. After that, Sergey Kiselev made some corrections, and we sent an application to the competition. I found out that I’d won a big competition in the middle of August, which made me really happy,” said Olesya Ikonopistseva.
