On 18 December, a team of students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences of VSU took part in the 17th Open Team Programming Olympiad of Kazan Federal University. The team of our university consisted of Nikita Berezhnov, Maxim Novotochinov, and Yulia Shishko. According to the results of the event, VSU students became winners and took first place.
The event was held in Kazan. It was attended by over 30 teams that had made it to the final, including teams from Kazan Federal University and universities in Moscow, Volgograd, Saratov, Yaroslavl, and other cities.
During the five-hour competition, students from VSU managed to solve 7 out of 10 tasks and became the winners. Two more teams from Moscow universities were awarded with first degree certificates: Moscow Aviation Institute and University of Science and Technology “MISIS”.
“The final of the Olympiad was held in Kazan and only teams that had passed the online pre-selection were invited to take part in it. The competition tasks were quite difficult, to solve most of them one had to know special data structures and algorithms, as well as to be able to apply them. Many tasks required extensive codes. It was not easy for our team, but still we succeeded. Apart from the competition, we have a lot of wonderful memories of the sights that we managed to visit during the trip: Kazan Kremlin, the viewing deck, and the Farmer’s Palace,” said Maxim Novotochinov.
