On 24 December, the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology of VSU held an event dedicated to the celebration of Christmas in the countries whose languages are studied at the faculty. The event was organised by student activists and the Student Council of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology. Among its participants were students and lecturers from the faculty.
The Charity Christmas Fair took place in auditorium No. 100 where goods made by the students were displayed on tables. Guests of the fair could buy pies, festive cookies, hand-made postcards, souvenirs, and jewellery. In total, the fair raised 25 thousand roubles. All this money was donated to the DobroSvet charity foundation which helps children suffering from ontological diseases.
The organisers managed to create a cheerful and warm atmosphere for the festival. Students tasted Christmas deserts, pulled out predictions for the next year, sang Christmas songs, and took photos with Santa Claus.
The final part of the event was educational. Student activists from the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology had prepared a fascinating Christmas quiz which checked the knowledge of Christmas and New Year traditions, songs and films from around the world. Seven teams took part in the event. The participants who were among prize-winners received certificates and nice New Year’s prizes.
