The Department of Student Affairs of VSU holds a series of meetings at the faculties of the university to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust. For example, on 18 and 19 January, curators of the secondary vocational education programmes held sessions with students from the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism within the framework of the Holocaust Remembrance Week. The events were supervised by Anna Baskakova, lecturer at the Department of Geoecology and Environmental Monitoring.
On 21 January, Suzanna Sayan and Anastasia Zaitseva, lecturers from the Department of Recreational Geography, Country Studies, and Tourism of the Faculty of Geography and Tourism, held a session “Holocaust in the memory of generations” for students of the 1–3 courses of the secondary vocational education programmes (“Tourism” programme). During the meeting, the curators talked about the tragic persecution and extermination of almost a third of the Jewish people and numerous members of other minorities who were discriminated against. The organisers told the students about the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Similar meetings were held at the Faculty of Mathematics for first year students, who watched the film “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”.
