The project of Voronezh State University “International Student Rally “Among your own people”” received support as a result of the competition of the Rosmolodezh Federal Agency for Youth Affairs. The International Student Rally will be held in Voronezh in July. The programme consists of many educational and creative activities in various formats: from thematic lectures on history, culture, traditions of the CIS countries, master classes, and excursions to historical and cultural sights to creativity events (a literature and music meeting, creativity competition, discussion platform, and student concert).
Among the participants will be students from universities of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
“At the moment, we feel there isn’t enough communication between students of the CIS countries. Student exchange programmes were focused mainly on the countries of Europe and America, while there were no youth academic exchanges in the post-Soviet space. As a result, students are ignorant of the culture and traditions of the CIS countries and there is no dialogue between the youth from these countries. We hope that the meeting will help to solve these issues and in the future will become a platform for international student interaction,” said Alla Akulshina, project mentor and Head of the Department of International Cooperation of VSU.
“We are delighted that our project has won. This will be the first student event of such scale organised by VSU. We hope to attract a lot of attention, not only from students, but also from the general public. We have to deal with a very important task, to create new intercultural ties and we, the organisers of the international student meeting “Among your own people”, are ready to work on it,” said Diana Popova, Head of the project and a second year student from the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology.
