The Faculty of Philology of VSU held an online meeting with students completing courses at the Russian Centre at the Saints Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje in North Macedonia. The event was dedicated to the discussion of Easter traditions in three Slavic countries: Russia, North Macedonia, and the Republic of Belarus.
Russian students studying the Macedonian language told their foreign friends about Russian customs of celebrating Easter. Russian students studying the Belarusian language talked about how Easter is celebrated in Belarus. Macedonian students described traditions in their country.
“I really enjoyed meeting the Macedonians. Such events have been held for the second time and I wish we could hold them more often. They are very useful for students who are learning Macedonian and for students who are learning Russian. You can ask questions to native speakers, just talk with them, and listen to each other,” said Sofia Rudneva, a second year student of VSU.
In conclusion, students from the Faculty of Philology introduced the Macedonians to the city of Voronezh: they told them about its history, sights, and famous people.
