On 27 April, an application for the VSU Alumni Association was presented in the VSU conference hall. The mobile application was developed by students from the Faculty of Physics, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Computer Sciences, and representatives of Fittin. The application allows graduates to get registered, find contacts of other graduates, follow news and information about competitions and grants, and react to vacancies. No similar applications are available in the Russian market.
“Our graduates are the crown jewels of our university. We must create strong ties because the university is a large family in which no one is forgotten,” said Dmitry Zhukalin, Head of the Department of Innovations.
Ekaterina Mikhailyuk, Head of the Centre for Career Development and Business Partnership at VSU, emphasised that VSU is a brand and the promotion of the brand means a lot of work which depends on many people.
“We set a goal to convey the concept and philosophy of the Association. The backbone for the design was a fractal that resembles a tree,” said Maxim Shevelyukhin, a student from the Faculty of Economics and the designer of the corporate style of the application.
Ekaterina Yegelskaya, UX/UI designer at Fittin, said the design was “clean and clear”.
“Why does the Alumni Association need a mobile application? Today, this is the most convenient tool for searching and storing contacts. Its functions provide access to up-to-date information, news, vacancies, grants, and competitions. And this is just the beginning: our plans include creating business accounts for companies and the opportunity to search professionals. We have a very large development potential and half of our team are VSU graduates or students.”
“I'm inspired. That's the kind of app we needed. It's hard for our graduates to make their presence felt since they are scattered all over the world: there are alumni associations in Germany, Britain, Vietnam, and Hungary,” said VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky.
The developers say that the application will be available for download in May.
