On 21 May, a national festival of students’ sport, ASSC.FEST, took place in Saransk. Members of the VSU students’ sports club “Khitschnye Bobry” took part in competitions in 7 disciplines and won several prizes.
They took second place in handball, badminton, table tennis (team championship), and ultimate frisbee. During individual competitions, Ekaterina Semakina and Alexey Lipovtsev took fourth and fifth places respectively. In mixed competitions, Alexander Shvetsov and Anastasia Vorotilina took first places. Dmitry Kulinichenko and Ellina Negovora took second and fourth place in individual competitions in table tennis.
VSU team also took third place in the 6х6 football competitions (men’s top division). The match took place at the Mordovia Arena stadium, which held the 2018 Football World Cup. The team also took fourth place in cybersport and fifth place in the team chess championship. During the trip the students were supervised by Alexandra Nazarova, Head of the Department of Student Affairs, and Igor Kotok, specialist from the Department of Student Affairs of VSU.
“I think it was one of the most memorable championships. I’m sure we will remember ASSC.FEST in Saransk for a long time. I was glad to accompany our team. They are really cool. I’ve been following their progress for several years now, and I can say that they’ve really made progress. This year I saw all the competitions in which our team took part. I can say it was overwhelming. They showed the whole country what they are made of”, said Igor Kotok.
The festival also included the 9th congress of ASSC Russia. The Voronezh Region was represented by Igor Kotok, specialist from the Department of Student Affairs of VSU, and Irina Ryabykh, Chair of the VSU students’ sports club “Khitschnye Bobry”. The congress changed the administration of ASSC Russia: a new char, co-chairs, and members of the coordination council were elected.
The festival also included educational events. Our students participated actively and completed special training. This year, the supervision team of the education project also included Irina Ryabykh, Chair of the VSU students’ sports club “Khitschnye Bobry”.
The team was coached by Aleksandr Sikorsky, senior teacher at the Department of Physical Education and Sports at VSU, Evgeny Solovyov, a senior teacher from the Department of Physical Education and Sports, and Evgeniya Kozyreva, a teacher at the Department of Physical Education and Sports.
