VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky headed a delegation from Voronezh State University to Azerbaijan State University of Economics in Baku.
The colleagues discussed their long and fruitful partnership and the need to strengthen contacts between the higher education institutions by means of academic exchange programmes. The rectors of the two universities also discussed the prospects of opening double degree programmes.
The delegation also met with Irek Zinurov, Head of the Russian House (the Russian information and cultural centre in Baku). He said that the Russian language is popular among young people in Azerbaijan and that Azerbaijanian scholars specialising in the Russian language and culture require assistance from Russian universities. They believe that teachers from Russia should visit Azerbaijan more often to participate in educational exhibitions and the work of cultural centres.
VSU delegation also visited the Chamber of Auditors and had a meeting with its chair Professor Vakhid Novruzov, DSc in Economics. As a result, a memorandum of cooperation was signed.
VSU also plans to sign partnership agreements with the Academy of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku State University.
The VSU delegation and VSU graduates also signed a declaration of the intent to create a VSU alumni association.
