On 20 June, an educational and scientific design centre was opened in the main building of the Voronezh State University. Its main function is designing radio-electronic microwave, terahertz, and optical systems using Russian electronic components.
The VSU design centre was included in the funding programme as part of the federal project “Training staff and preparing a scientific foundation for the electronics industry”. The project is a part of the state program “Scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation”.
VSU received unique scientific and technical equipment for the design centre, including a system for the measurement of the parameters of a semiconductor element base in the microwave range manufactured in Canada. The centre includes four automatic impedance tuners with various frequencies, pulse power systems, mechanical calibration kits, and other unique devices.
Today, the device installed in the design centre is the only one in Russia that allows simultaneous measurements of three types: pulse measurements, load pull measurements, and identification of models of high-power microwave transistors and amplifiers in the range of up to 40 GHz.
