Between 30 July and 10 August, the CTF Summer School was held in Solnechnogorsk, Moscow Region, as an annual event for schoolchildren and students who are interested in information security. Students from the VSU Faculty of Computer Sciences again took part in the school.
The session included practical workshops and lectures by leading experts in the field of information security, such as Positive Technologies, Kaspersky Lab, Association of Administrators of Information Security Services (ARSIB), and others. Any school of this kind always offers team and individual competitions in practical information security.
In addition to the educational and training process, the participants supported the traditions of the Summer School by making videos, doing exercises and sports, dancing, and much more.
Students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences demonstrated a high level of training. Roman Mitrakov and his team came third in two categories, “Team competition” and “Soldering Iron”, the latter being a humorous but still a difficult competition. Alexander Poryadin took second place in AntiCTF. Yaroslav Guzenko’s team entered the top 3 at the hackathon which was held as part of the summer school.
Lev Khakimov, who has graduated from the Faculty of Computer Sciences this year, is worth to be mentioned individually as he managed to do a lot for the development of CTF in Voronezh as part of the VrnCTF competitions, and this time he acted as one of the technical organisers of the CTF Summer School.
“The general impression was very positive. Summer School makes you want to return. We hope that in the future we will be able to come here again as organisers, and we are going to work hard to achieve this goal,” said VSU participants, unanimous in their opinion.
