The XV meeting of the Russian Botanical Society was held in St Petersburg. At the meeting, Anna Grigorievskaya, Professor of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism at VSU, was elected an honorary member of the society. Previously, only one VSU employee was awarded this title: it was Professor Boris Kozo-Polyansky in 1947.
Anna Grigorievskaya is a biogeographer, florist, geobotanist, and landscape specialist, as well as science populariser and organiser. She is the author and co-author of 474 scientific publications, including more than 80 publications in leading peer-reviewed journals in Russia. Among her published works are 27 monographs, including textbooks for university students involved in geographical, environmental, and biological studies. The monograph “Adventive flora of the Voronezh region: historical, biogeographical, and ecological aspects” published in 2004 should be mentioned in particular as it is one of the most cited Russian publications on biological invasions.
The professor’s ongoing research, environmental, ecological, and educational activities were highly recognised: she was twice awarded the “Winner of Socialist Competition” badge (1974, 1976) and the honorary badge of the All-Russian Society of Nature Conservation “For the Conservation of Nature in Russia” (1977, 1984), and she is also a laureate of awards by the Administration of the Voronezh Region (2005) and the Government of the Voronezh Region (2013, 2022). Anna Grigorievskaya also has the title of the “Honorary Worker of VSU” (2008). In 2019, she was awarded the title “Honorary Worker of Education of the Russian Federation”.
