From October 6 to 7, the Regional eSports tournament of Voronezh Regional Open Cup 2023 was held at the Paramatrix computer club. The organisers of the event were the Department of Youth Policy of the Voronezh Region and the Youth Centre. Teams from the cybersport club “VSU Esports” took part in the tournament in the CS2, Dota 2, and FIFA disciplines.
The VSU team became the winner in the Dota 2. The team consisted of: Vadim Pulyaev, Pavel Pindyurin, Alexey Tarnov, Alexander Kalenikin, and Denis Lebedev. In the CS2, the VSU team took fourth place. The team consisted of: Mikhail Skogorev, Artem Edryshov, Vladimir Katsyn, Nikita Startsev, and Felix Zasorin. An e-sportsman from VSU, Ilya Goglov, took first place in the FIFA discipline.
“It’s very pleasant that cybersport is becoming more and more popular, and now not only enthusiasts, but also representatives of youth authorities are paying attention to it. Students liked the organisation of the tournament, we will wait for the next ones and will definitely take part,” commented the head of the cybersport club “VSU Esports”, said Sergey Ivliev.
“A LAN tournament is always a celebration, a reason to see the friends and have a great time both in and outside the game. We were charged with strong emotions, largely because the path to the final was not easy. We hope that in the future there will be more and more LAN tournaments, and the average level of team play will be higher,” said Pavel Pindyurin, a player of the Dota 2 VSU Esports.
“Overall, the tournament was great, even not considering the result. This was our first experience with the new version of the game, and my team and I managed to find weaknesses. Now we are preparing for the next competitions, where we will try to perform better,” said Mikhail Skogorev, captain of the CS2 VSU Esports.
