Between 22 and 23 November, Minsk State Linguistic University (the Republic of Belarus) held an international scientific and practical conference “Current trends in the development of linguistic education 2023”. The conference was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Minsk State Linguistic University. It served as a platform for exchanging experience and academic interaction between researchers, university and school teachers, as well as postgraduate and undergraduate students from the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, Armenia, Uzbekistan, and Ecuador.
Voronezh State University was represented by Associate Professors Marina Scherbakova, Olga Donina, and Elena Chaika, and master’s degree students from the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology Elena Belyaeva, Nikita Grinenko, Anna Merzlikina, Oksana Protsenko, and Yana Ushakova.
Associate Professor Marina Scherbakova delivered a report on “Preparing future foreign language teachers for pedagogical activities in an education environment of a classical university”. She told the colleagues from Belarus about the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology and a master’s degree programme “Pedagogical Education”, which the faculty has been running since 2015 to train English language teachers able to adapt to the digitalisation of linguistic education.
During the plenary session and the three panels, the participants of the conference discussed modern paradigms in linguodidactics, development and integration of innovative technologies at the current stage of digital transformation, and development of modern training and methodological materials. During the panel “Young Scientists Stand”, PhD and master’s degree students from the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation discussed the multimodal representation of cultural codes in the process of teaching a foreign language.]
The participants of the conference demonstrated a wide range of approaches to teaching foreign languages. It helped to strengthen research and academic ties between the representatives of various linguodidactic and methodological schools in Russia and Belarus, and between secondary and higher education institutions.
