Professor Irina Durakova, Head of the Department of Human Resource Management, gave a plenary session report at the international conference “The ESG Agenda in the Context of Geopolitical and Economic Changes” that was held in Yerevan and organised by the Armenian State University of Economics. The ESG concept of business development that is being widely used in Russia today involves a three-pronged approach to management focused on the environment, social sphere, and corporations. The report “Talents of older workers as a response to the higher education challenge” was the result of a study conducted by an international group of researchers, which included, in addition to the speaker, VSU Rector Professor Dmitry Endovitsky and Professor Maria Sahakyan, PhD, from the Armenian State University of Economics.
The researchers identified the issues of combining the “sporting” paradigm in university management, which justifies the significance of revolutionary breakthroughs and victories that allow going up the scale of industry rankings, and the staff shortage syndrome caused by the ageing of the academic staff, changes in the model of the regular attraction of young researchers, and transformation of young people’s system of values. The report offers a version of environment conditions that allow for scientific creativity and are aimed at retaining key professors and associate professors who ensure the high status of their university. The circumstances that hinder their formation were also mentioned, and a mechanism for preserving professional success as an indicator of employees’ performance within talent management was justified.
As part of the partnership agreement between Voronezh State University and Armenian State University of Economics Irina Durakova met the representatives of a related department, Professor Anahit Melkumyan and Associate Professor Maria Sahakyan. The departments successfully collaborate and prepare joint publications and monographs, while lecturers and students take part in joint conferences. Promising steps have been made towards the promotion of scientific and academic activities.
