Lots of entertainment venues, a career and board games festival, VR, a cinema hall, a photo area, a charity event, media, cosplay, live music: the participants of the Night University, a grant project by Rosmolodezh, were highly impressed. The interuniversity student event was organised by the Joint Students’ Board of VSU.
The Night University project is aimed at involving students in extracurricular, educational, and career activities of the university in an adaptive way. Participants had the opportunity learn about employing companies and student self-governance at VSU.
“It is useful both for us and for our partners to come here every time and tell students about the company and also offer internships and employment. The organisers were really well-prepared: we can see the further prospects for the development of Night University because there is always something to aim for.
It was important for us to attract young specialists to our company, that’s why we decided to conduct a job fair where we talked about the company and also about the opportunities and internships that we offer. We mixed business with pleasure while playing games with students focused on attention and quick-wittedness. The winners received our company’s merch. This format was interesting for students as it allowed them to get to know the company better as well as learning about our latest news and events,” said Ekaterina Romanenko, Head of the Centre for Career Brand Development at DOM.RF.
Rauf Ragimov, a graduate of the Faculty of Computer Science at VSU, performed a musical piece on the harpsichord at the official opening of Night University. Danila Kovalev, a student from the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, acted as the presenter. VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. He mentioned the importance of the Joint Students’ Board’s contribution to the development of student self-governance at the university.
“I’m very glad that we are able to continue the good tradition of Night University. Today’s event allows passing our experience on to a new generation and expanding the range of opportunities for university students from different regions. I’m sure that the teams formed in the course of the quest game will continue to keep in touch and take part in new social projects,” said Nikita Shelopugin, head of the project and deputy chairman of the Joint Students’ Board.
The following clubs of Voronezh State University participated in the event: student career club, PIXEL media community, students’ sport club “Khitschnye Bobry”, patriotic club “Vysota 155”, Student Teams, Volunteer Centre “Gravity”, Buddy club, and Law Clinic.
“Night University is not only a business meeting: we’ve also prepared entertainment areas with a Christmas atmosphere for all students. Bright lights, cosy relaxation areas, and fun competitions altogether create a unique atmosphere of magic and celebration. For me, this event is a combination of emotions from the participants, the organisers, and the preparation for the event itself. Together with a huge team of student associations, we’ve spent two months trying to think of new ideas and best practices of student self-governance for this project. I’m grateful to all the clubs of our university that supported the initiative, as well as the project team that have helped to conduct such a large-scale event,” said Matvey Michalsky, project coordinator and chairman of the Joint Students’ Board.
Ekaterina Burdovitsyna, head of the VSU student career club, was among the management of Night University. She was responsible for participant coordination, quest games, the event programme, media design, and interactions with partners. To conclude the event, the creative department headed by Diana Minakova presented a vibrant New Year performance, which was continued with an awards ceremony.
“My friend invited me, so it’s my first time here. Night University is a really impressive event! There were lots of booths, gifts, and venues for development and interaction. One of the booths by Tochka Zreniya offered to play a game aimed at attention and having your eyesight checked for free. I think this is very cool! The booths organised by VSU clubs should also be mentioned for their originality and creative approach. Here I made some new friends and useful acquaintances, and it was also helpful for my future employment. I’m grateful to the organisers for these opportunities and for conducting such a memorable event!” said Daria Belousova, a fourth year student from the Voronezh Institute of High Technologies.
“I would like to summarise the results of this year and say that every year we try to improve our organisational skills with the help of the projects supported by Rosmolodezh. We need this in order to share practical experience with the students of Voronezh universities. In 2023, we were focused on developing student media, promoting patriotism, and expanding career opportunities for students. We should also remember that the Joint Students’ Board includes all students of Voronezh State University who somehow contribute to the development of youth policy in the region. Thanks to everyone who makes studying at university special and offers their creative ideas for the development of projects!” said Matvey Michalsky.
