On January 26, the Faculty of Philology held the 8th International Research and Methodology Conference “Issues of Philology for Foreign Students”. Olga Berdnikova, Head of the Department of Russian Literature of the 20th and 21st Centuries, Theory of Literature, and Humanities, welcomed the participants.
“Our faculty has a profound experience in teaching numerous international students. Today we have an opportunity to discuss how to teach Russian language, literature, and other humanities disciplines. For more than 15 years, we have been holding this conference. We have established a scientific direction, which focuses on the issues of teaching philology and produces methodological manuals. We are especially pleased to welcome participants from Chinese and Vietnamese universities. I am glad that the number of reports related to Russian literature has increased.
The first speakers were Olga Berdnikova with the report “A New Man with an Old Heart”: The Challenges of Interpretation of Russian Classics of the 20th Century” and Liu Ziwen, a master’s degree student of Shanghai International Studies University and an intern at the Faculty of Philology of VSU, with the report “Causes of Chinese-Russian Intercultural Communicative Failures from the Perspective of Politeness Theory”. Christina Davletshina, PhD in Pedagogics, associate professor of the Department of Russian Language of Tyumen Higher Military Engineer Command School named after Marshal of Engineer troops Alexei Proshlyakov, and Alyona Itkulova, lecturer of the department, spoke about the methods of cultural adaptation of cadets from Laos.
The conference takes place from 26 to 27 January. It includes three panels in face-to-face and online formats.
