On 8 April, the regional stage of the National Championship of the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia concluded in the Voronezh Region. Voronezh State University not only showed its great physical strength, but also organised the event together with the Department of Physical Education and Sports.
Competitions included five disciplines: dodgeball, tug-of-war, sports quiz, table tennis, and crossfit. The SSC VSU “Khitschnye Bobry” took first place, the second place went to the SSC Russian State University of Justice “Orly Pravosudiya”, and the SSC VSU “Khitschnye Bobry” came third. Some honourable guests were present at the event: First Deputy Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Voronezh Region Maxim Shlyakhta, Head of the Department of Youth Policy of the Voronezh Region Sergei Afanasyev, and Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Social Development of VSU Oleg Grishaev.
“That was another great event organised and held by our students. I learnt about new kinds of sport and also met some activists from other student sports clubs. We hope this event will become annual and will attract even more student teams. The most spectacular part, I guess, was crossfit, in which each team tried to do their best and showed great results. This way they showed perfect physical strength as well as morale of each participant,” said Igor Kotok, specialist of the Department of Student Affairs.
