Voronezh State University held the second international scientific and practical conference “Russian and French World: traditions and innovations in education, language, and culture”. The conference was organised by the Department of French Philology and the Regional Centre for French Research, namely by the head of the department Elena Alexeeva and Professor Natalia Fenenko.
The conference investigated the interaction between Russian and French cultures in the modern world. It discussed the diversity of education systems in Russia and French-speaking countries, the dialogue between Russian and French culture, and the issues of translation from Russian into French and vice versa as a means of learning more about your own culture by getting to know another one and vice versa.
The participants of the conference were well-known researchers from the Higher School of Translation of Moscow State University, the Federal State University of Education (Moscow), Russian State Pedagogical University (Saint-Petersburg), the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Minsk State Linguistic University. The greatest attention was received by linguists from French-speaking countries, including Morocco, Senegal, Mali, Cameroon, and Guinea.
The participants of the conference shared their experience of conducting cultural and educational projects dedicated to the French language and cultures of French-speaking countries actively participated in by Russian and international students.
The partner of the conference was Minsk State Linguistic University.
